Fortis was founded over eight years ago by current CEO Uri Minkoff. Minkoff, already a successful entrepreneur, saw a need for top-notch software consulting services and built a team of highly-experienced veterans of the software industry, included several Microsoft alumni. Fortis became his third successful startup business, while still in his twenties.

The idea was to re-create the Microsoft development culture in the Tampa/Clearwater Florida area. The goal: focus on delivering innovative, commercial-grade, world-class software products to companies of any size; to give them an unfair advantage on their competitors or in developing new market opportunities.

From the start, many Fortis clients were early-stage technology companies and/or Independent Software Vendors (ISV's). This continues to be an important focus for Fortis Software. Today the client list includes companies that are also much larger and includes, Boingo Wireless, Sunbelt Software, Executive Software, Intuit, Cheetah Software System, 8e6 Technologies, Click2Learn, CommFlo Technology, CEO Software, and many others.
